Located in southwest Montana in a picturesque mountain setting, lies this charming community known as the “Garden City” because of the abundance of gardens and lush green landscapes. Missoula is Montana’s third largest city and the county seat of Missoula County. Missoula is the center for education, medicine, business, culture and entertainment for Western Montana.
Missoula is situated between two mountain ranges at an elevation of 3,199 ft above sea level. The severe cold some identify with Montana winters is for the most part kept from entering the area by the Continental Divide. Missoula is one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People”. The community works together with local government, area businesses and local schools to provide hours of program instruction and/or supervision. It is the home of the University of Montana which was founded in 1893, that provides training for professional careers in arts and science, forestry and conservation, and technology – along with journalism, law, business, education and pharmacy.
Missoula is quickly becoming known for its medical services. As the major medical hub between Minneapolis and Seattle, Missoula has over 9,700 people working in the health services industry. The city offers seven golf courses, miles of hiking and biking, along with several downhill ski areas, blue ribbon fishing and numerous other outdoor activities within minutes of leaving the city.
Downtown Missoula is the heart of our community and is always filled with activities and events throughout the year, and is home to Missoula’s treasure, the first full hand-carved carousel built in America in sixty years at Caras Park. Caras Park also includes the newly constructed magical play park Dragon’s Hollow. Make sure you taken in a few of the events at Caras Park, here is their events calendar.
