Downtown Atlanta has recently undergone a transformation and has, consequently, become quite a hot spot.  Construction of new condos and lofts, in concert with the renovation of historic buildings, has drawn the arrival of new residents and businesses.  Inherently centrally located, Atlanta's best amenities are just a step away . . . dining, shopping, arts and professional sports.  Downtown's "neighborhoods" include Five Points, the Hotel District, Fairlie-Poplar, SoNo and Castleberry Hill.  As heart of, and largest of, the three business districts, the City contains striking architecture dating back to the 19th century.

As host of the 1996 Olympic Games, Atlanta sought to revitalize its Downtown area . . . and did so very successfully.  In addition to the transformation of Downtown's Georgia State University into a traditional college (versus commuter), the decade following the Olympic Games saw the addition of such attractions as Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium, the CNN Center, the Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Downtown is not without its green space - it is home to Woodruff Park, a 6-acre park and home of the Phoenix Memorial. Of course, Centennial Olympic Park sits in Downtown Atlanta and is the largest downtown park in the country developed in the last 25 years and is the site of music concerts, special events, and the city's most popular Independence Day fireworks show.
