Located to the north of Allentown and Bethlehem, Hanover Township is best known as the home of Lehigh Valley International Airport, which serves the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.
Over the past decades the area has undergone a transformation with large tracts of agricultural land giving way to new housing developments. With the average home price ranging from $160,000 to $225,000 and a variety of newly built homes, Hanover Township is a great place to make your dream home a reality.
Hanover Township was formed from the southern portion of Allen Township in 1798. Its geographic limits at that time included the present area plus that which comprises Hanover Township, Northampton County, and the area immediately south of the current Township to the Lehigh River. This original territory was retained until 1812 when Lehigh County was established and the Township was divided; approximately two-thirds of its area went to Lehigh County and one-third remained in Northampton County.
The townships location provides easy access to the surrounding urban areas. Route 22, the area’s major regional east-west thoroughfare, links Hanover Township with the three cities-Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. Route 22 extends to the major metropolitan centers of New York and New Jersey, and west to Harrisburg and central Pennsylvania.
The Township’s position as an employment and commercial center for the Lehigh Valley has been reinforced over the last two decades. In recent years, the well-planned districts have resulted in ample employment opportunities. The Township is home to two first-class business parks with easy access off of Route 22: Lehigh Valley Corporate Center and Lehigh Valley Industrial Park. Hanover Township residents enjoy access to a network of outstanding schools, and plenty of outdoor activities and cultural events for year-round entertainment.
