The East Atlanta neighborhood is Atlanta’s eclectic neighborhood. Voted “Atlanta’s Best Neighborhood” by the readers of Creative Loafing, this area offers a wide variety of activities and recreation for single folks and families alike. South of I-20 and east of Grant Park, East Atlanta’s hub is the East Atlanta Village. East Atlanta is a great walkable neighborhood with active business and community associations.
Known as EAV, East Atlanta Village offers great restaurants, music venues, coffee shops and bookstores. Brownwood Park offers tennis and basketball courts as well as a children’s playground. The East Atlanta Farmer’s market is open May through October, every Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m and is a popular gathering place for residents. There are a variety of festivals throughout the year including the annual East Atlanta Strut in September which includes a neighborhood parade.
RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING
A variety of appetites can be satisfied with the restaurant selection in East Atlanta – East Atlanta Thai and Sushi, Soba Vietnamese, The Argosy and Midway Pub are some of the local favorites. After dining, you can walk to one or more of the music venues, The Earl, 529, The Graveyard or Mary’s for bands, acoustical music or karoke.
Burgess-Peterson Elementary is a PreK through 5th grade school and has approximately 258 students, which equates to a 12 student per teacher ratio. Coan Middle and Maynard Jackson High service junior high and high school students.
