Founded in 1913, the City of San Marino is centrally located in the San Gabriel Valley with views to the majestic San Gabriel mountains to the North; a short ride to the desert community of Palm Springs to the East and the Pacific Ocean to the West. The appeal of this city lies in its beautifully-maintained homes and public facilities and parks, low crime rate and excellent school system.

San Marino is considered one of the most desirable areas in the Los Angeles area with numerous public arenas and businesses. Most are commercial and service-related establishments which meet the needs of it's population of approximately 15,000 residents.

Landmarks include the renowned Huntington Library and gardens, home of Henry Huntington’s art collections, rare books and historical documents, housed in the library and a large Neoclassical-Palladian mansion. The art collection and surrounding botanical gardens, collectively known as, "The Huntington", are open to the public.  In addition, San Marino is home to Lacy Park, a 30-acre expanse of lush grass and trees, where there are picnic areas, tennis courts, a Rose Arbor and almost two miles of walking trails.
